Harmony and Wabi-Sabi in Westchester

In the lush surroundings of Westchester, New York, a private residence becomes a sanctuary of Japandi design through the refined materials and functional beauty of Salvatori
In Westchester, one of the most refined residential areas just outside New York City, the tranquility of nature meets the essential beauty of Japanese style in a new interior design project by Salvatori. This elegant home embodies a perfect balance between Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian warmth: clean lines, neutral tones, natural materials, and a deep appreciation for authentic, imperfect beauty.
The day begins in the soft stillness of morning, in the warm, tactile atmosphere of the living room. Sunlight filters through large windows, casting delicate shadows across the Silk Georgette® walls in the Rain finish. Morning coffee is savored slowly by the fireplace clad in Crema d’Orcia, a visual focal point that enhances the feeling of serenity and continuity. At the center of the space, the Span Indoor coffee table stands out with its pure, solid form—anchoring the room in a silence that evokes forest air and deep breath.
A little later, the scene transitions to the dining area, where the Taula table in Verde Guatemala welcomes breakfast with natural elegance. Its dark veining adds depth and character, harmonizing with the aroma of tea and views of the garden just beyond. A bold yet balanced choice, the table reflects the wabi-sabi aesthetic—embracing imperfection and the raw beauty of natural materials.
In the afternoon, the home becomes a contemplative retreat. In the study, a space dedicated to reflection and quiet, the gaze drifts across the deep tones of the Verde Guatemala walls with their Stone Tatami texture. It’s a place for writing, reading, and simply thinking—where time slows and the house accompanies each gesture with quiet poise. Here, design turns meditative, nature enters the interior visually, and stone becomes the silent protagonist of the space.
As the sun sets, a new rhythm takes hold. The master bathroom welcomes with the warmth of stone and wood, completing the day with essential elegance. The freestanding bathtub in Verde Guatemala invites restorative rituals, while the drawer modules from the Punto collection—combining Silk Georgette® stone with Nordic oak fronts—offer refined storage and chromatic harmony. The combination of materials and finishes expresses the principles of Japanese interior design: simplicity, tactility, and authenticity. And here, between stone and soft light, the day comes to a close with a profound sense of balance.
