Pietra d'Avola Plissé | Sample

A rich chocolatey limestone, Pietra d’Avola is a dark, elegant stone that can vary in shade from greyish-brown to almost black. Its intense shade makes it ideal for a wide range of uses, from large-scale interior projects to small accessories.
Among Pietra d’Avola’s most distinctive characteristics are the whitish lines and splashes of colour which arise as a result of the quartz contained in the stone. Occasional yellowish marks may also be found.
A hardwearing stone, it is suitable for both interior and exterior usage, along with areas where it may be subjected to high foot traffic.

The name Plissé comes from the French for pleat and refers to the effect of the clean, sharp lines which play with light to evoke a sense of lightness and continuity.
The process which creates our Plissé tiles is designed to preserve the natural aesthetic qualities of the stone. As a result of this, you may notice small imperfections, but these are an intrinsic element that reflect the unique nature of every piece.
Lighting is key to maximising this texture’s beauty, creating an interplay of light and shadow. The key to great lighting is that it should “wash” down or across the surface, depending whether the lines run horizontally or vertically.
We also provide honed tiles cut to the same dimensions so that the fluidity of the lines remains uncompromised.
