Fuorisalone returns and we are already looking forward to welcoming visitors from around the world to our showroom. For now, here’s a taster of what’s in store

Milan Design Week is back!

Like all design lovers around the world, we are delighted to be counting down to Milan Design Week 2022, or, to use its Italian moniker, Salone del Mobile. Its occurrence marks a long-awaited return to normality with its new June date instead of the traditional April allowing more visitors to attend and exhibitors extra time to prepare. It is perhaps fitting that such a momentous comeback after a two-year hiatus coincides with the sixtieth anniversary of the world ‘s most beloved design event. So, just what’s in store in Milan next month?

Date and theme of Milan Design Week 2022

Milan Design Week takes place from 7 to 12 June 2022. This year’s theme centres around sustainability, a challenging but stimulating topic, and one which was specifically chosen to celebrate the 60-year anniversary and to mark the re-emergence from a decidedly difficult period.

The objective is to show the world the progress made in this area through creativity, designers and businesses in the sector. It is a unique opportunity to create a better future for our children and the generations that will follow.

Fuorisalone adresses the subject of sustainability through the theme “Tra Spazio e Tempo” or “Between space and time”, examining how design can become a protagonist in guiding ecological transition to ensure it is not only effective but also aesthetically engaging.

Against the backdrop of all this, what awaits visitors to our showroom in via Solferino, in the Brera district during Milan Design Week 2022? Let’s take a look.

A preview of what’s in store at Milan Design Week 2022

Fuorisalone is always a highlight of our year and 2022 is no exception. We take great pleasure and pride in being a part of this wonderful extension of Milan Design Week. We have no shortage of new products to share, starting with intriguing bathroom collections developed with two internationally-renowned names in the form of Kengo Kuma and Yabu Pushelberg.

On the home collection front there is also plenty of news, including the Omphalos coffee table designed in collaboration with John Pawson. Pleasingly solid yet conveying an incredible sense of lightness, this unconventional object seems to challenge the laws of physics.

These are just an appetiser of what awaits, and for now we cannot share further details, but rest assured that we are working hard to create new displays in our showroom so that we are ready to reveal all when Design Week begins on 7 June. We will be open from 10 am until 8 pm from Tuesday 7 June to Sunday 12, with last admissions at 7 pm. As in previous years, you can avoid the queues to enter by registering in advance, but we’ll provide updates on that in the coming days.

The Salvatori Boutique, just around the corner from our showroom, will of course be open as will Casa Salvatori, the Milan home of our CEO Gabriele Salvatori. With its dramatic walls in striking, unusual colours hand-selected by Elisa Ossino, and its myriad of Salvatori products in a real-life context, the apartment in a 200-year-old typical Milan palazzo is always a favourite with visitors. It will be open to the public from 3 till 6.30 pm every day during Design Week.

For now, that’s all, but we hope this little preview has whetted your appetite as we count down the weeks and look forward to a fantastic six days together in Milan. In the meantime, however, if you would like to know more about our new or existing collections, please don’t hesitate to drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you!
