Salvatori presents the Edo collection by Piero Lissoni
Salvatori presents Edo, the new bathroom accessory collection
One of the many new collections we presented earlier this year at Milan Design Week is the Edo range of bathroom accessories in natural stone and walnut wood. Designed by the renowned Piero Lissoni, the collection springs from the longstanding passion for the Far East that he shares with us.
We take a more detailed look at the story behind Edo and the elements that make up the range.
It is no secret that at Salvatori we have long been fascinated by the cultures of oriental nations such as China and Japan. A number of our products are inspired by such faraway places, not least our Stone Tatami and Rain textures, both of which were also developed together with Lissoni.
Edo represents further confirmation of this shared passion and a new way to pay homage to that extraordinary and, in many ways, mysterious culture with its rules, discipline and spirituality. Even the name we chose reflects our fascination, as Edo was what Tokyo was called in ancient times, when the bustling metropolis we know today was a peaceful fishing village.
The evocative culture and traditions of the Far East inspired a trio of accessories, designed to add the elegant, understated charm that has been associated with this mesmerising region for centuries to twenty-first century bathrooms.
The shape of each piece is an abstract representation of the katana, a traditional curved Samurai sword, expressed in the following accessories:
- Freestanding towel rack
- Wall-mounted towel rail
- Toilet paper holder
As with all our collections, the interpretation of a style or culture is expressed with hallmark Salvatori understated elegance and simplicity. Wood, natural stone and metal come together in an artful design to recreate iconic every day bathroom objects with pleasing curves and soft forms. Not only stylish and functional, they are available in five types of stone, ensuring a solution for any bathroom décor.
The choice of Bianco Carrara, Pietra d’Avola, Gris du Marais®, Silk Georgette® and Crema d’Orcia offers an ample palette of neutral colours ranging from classic white to rich dark brown, with something for every style and taste.
In short, the new Edo range of bathroom accessories brings a decidedly Japanese atmosphere to your bathroom, whether on their own, or paired with one of our Orient-inspired textures. If you do decide to go down that path, you can effortlessly create a Total Look Far East bathroom, where every element works with the others in harmony, so that the moment you open the door, you find yourself transported to another culture with a more gentle, tranquil rhythm.
